For our last project in Spanish 2, we had to create a movie showing people how to cook a traditional South American dish. My friend and I decided to make churros. We had to create a skip that listed the ingredients needs and the steps to follow. Our churros ended up tasting very good. As for our video, it ended up not totally being what we intended. We made it almost to the end until it got to the reaction and outro, as you can see in the video. We ended up not being able to access the last parts that we had filmed originally. We had nice b roll shots and a more put together outro and reaction over what we had created but we were unable to put it in the video. In the end we decided that it would be better to finish the video and have it not be at its full potential instead of not finishing at all. Overall I think it was a good way to close off the year.
Mí Frida Proyecto- Diego Rivera
This unit was based on the very famous artist, Frida Khalo. During this unit, we read a book about her life and watched a film all about her life. When we reached the end of the unit we were assigned to create an art piece that looked similar to one of Frida's paintings. I decided to take my own route and I created a piece that was supposed to kinda spread a message. In my description, I explained that the other birds symbolized the other women that Diego was seeing while he was with Frida. The dove is Frida. There are birds surrounding Diego but Frida will always be the dove in his life. I got the idea of the dove and the toad from the film we watched. There was one point in the film where Diego compares himself to a toad and Frida to a dove.
The New Houdini
We read a book in spanish. The book was about a rebelious kid who lies mulitple times in order to drive his dads car and have a relationship while his parents are out of town. His lies end up catching up to him and he doesn't get away with any of it. This book got kind of hard to read at times but I was proud of myself for being able to read almost the entire book by myself. I felt like this really showede me how much I have grown.
Calavera Literaria
A Calavera is a short story about the death of someone. It is usually making fun of an action the person does and is talking about how they could possibly die from that action. I chose to mine about my friend Sydney. The story is completely fictional. It is the story of Cinderella but with a twist.
